A selection of violins by Antonio Stradivari as well as other rare 18th century Italian and French violins, violas and cellos provided by J & A Beare will be exhibited in the Liang Yi Museum. The exhibition will also present 12 cutting-edge, high-definition, large prints of rare Stradivari violins highlighting the minutest details of their varnish. This will be a unique opportunity to experience at close range the unsurpassed craftsmanship of these precious musical instruments, still providing an exceptional sound some 300 years after they were made.

Members of the Beare’s team will also be available to meet individually with musicians and collectors to present the instruments and to try them in the VIP room.

Students and performers are also welcome to bring their own string instruments to be adjusted.

The exhibition will also offer a live view into the craft of violin making, with Robert Brewer Young constructing and finishing an instrument of his own on-site across the week. Visitors will be encouraged to handle the wood, as it is transformed from its raw state into a playable concert instrument. The violin made will be used in a salon concert at the end of the week.

Cellist Hamzah Zaidi, Violist Ao Peng and Violinist Lisa Lee will be performing in a short recital and demonstrating instruments. Programme includes solo works by Bach and a Beethoven Trio. A short presentation of the violin that will have been finished will be given during the salon concert as well.
